## One-Line Read

v0.7 closes as a **qualified-positive / restricted-domain positive**
on the Floquet velocity-fraction direction shadow of the Li-Liao
supplementary-B piano-trio catalog. The catalog-wide v0.7a audit was
**integration-attrited at variational precision 1e-12** (23 of 273
rows blocked, 8.42% > 5% threshold; total data-integrity 12.5%
including 11 R1-sanity-failed rows). The minimum-scoped v0.7a'
restricted-domain confirmation on the 250 analyzable rows
**passed at chi^2 = 16.43 vs critical 11.34 (p = 9.3e-4) with
alignment-tightness 0.698 (below the 0.8 warning threshold)**. The
velocity-fraction direction shadow stratifies S/U on the analyzable
sub-catalog **independently of the v0.5a branch hash**, in a
**non-monotone U-shape**: Q1 (gamma_1 mostly positional) 49% S, Q2
(mixed, slightly velocity-leaning) 18% S, Q3 29% S, Q4 (gamma_1
mostly velocity) 43% S. Direction-purity, not branch label, carries
the stability signal. This is the **first** low-dimensional projection
in the four-chapter v0.4 + v0.5 + v0.6 + v0.7 envelope to produce a
statistically-significant non-branch-aligned signal. The chapter
closes as a fourth distinct chapter-close type:
**integration-attrition + qualified-positive on restricted domain**.

## What v0.7 Tested

v0.7 opened after v0.6's conditional-independence close. The v0.6
chapter established that the continuous catalog-coordinate
conserved-quantity (E, |L|) shadow is in-sample-stratifying but
branch-shadow-content-only on supp-B. v0.7 left catalog-coordinate
space entirely and asked whether **orbit-dynamics structure** (the
direction of the row's largest-real-part Floquet eigenvector,
projected as a geometric direction in phase space) carries stability
information independent of all prior catalog-coordinate shadows.

Three pre-registered sub-chapters, all paper-side first:

```text
v0.7a: catalog-wide velocity-fraction audit
       Body:        supp-B piano-trio orbit as primary orbit-dynamics
                    object (273 rows).
       Projection:  row -> velocity-fraction of gamma_1 under CoM
                    reduction + mass-weighted norm.
       Selection:   largest-real-part Floquet eigenvalue's eigenvector,
                    with a 4-step deterministic tie-break cascade
                    for degenerate eigenspaces.
       Non-circ:    locked sentence -- Floquet eigenvectors used as
                    geometric directions only; no eigenvalue
                    magnitude, spectral radius, unit-circle status,
                    or stability threshold enters the feature.
       Compute:     new variational integration (DOP853 at rtol =
                    atol = 1e-12, max_step_fraction = 0.02) per row
                    via the matrix-form dY/dt = J(t) Y, Y(0) = I_18.
       Result:      velocity_fraction_blocked_integration_attrition
                    (23 blocked + 11 sanity-failed = 34 / 273 =
                    12.5% data-integrity issues).
v0.7a': restricted-scope confirmation audit
       Scope:       250 analyzable rows from v0.7a (rows with
                    integration_blocked == False).
       Feature:     velocity-fraction (already computed in v0.7a).
       Binning:     re-quartile-binned within the 250-row subset.
       Outcome
        tree:       Pass / Partial / Fail explicitly tied to the
                    v0.5a branch-hash alignment-tightness threshold
                    (0.8 warning, 0.95 severe).
       Result:      velocity_fraction_restricted_passes_audit [PASS]
                    (chi^2 = 16.43, p = 9.3e-4, alignment 0.698).
(v0.7b held-out predictor was not licensed under the catalog-wide
 attrition verdict and was not registered.)
```

## Audit Chain Methodology

The v0.7 chain inherited the v0.5/v0.6 discipline (audit-then-predictor
separation, asymmetric McNemar + delta predictor falsifier,
alignment-tightness guard, sparse-cell fallback tree, conservative
tie rule) and added three new register-shaping disciplines:

**Non-circularity audit for Floquet-derived features.** v0.4b's
disallowed-feature list retired any function of M_i eigenvalues' magnitudes
(spectral radius, unit-circle count, off-unit-circle-pair count, Krein
signature, etc.) on stability circularity grounds. v0.7's challenge
was: can a Floquet-derived geometric direction be evaluated
non-circularly? The locked answer is the v0.7a non-circularity
sentence:

> v0.7a uses Floquet eigenvectors only as geometric directions; it
> does not use eigenvalue magnitude, spectral radius, unit-circle
> status, unstable-pair count, or any threshold that defines the
> published S/U label. The tested scalar is a phase-space composition
> ratio of the selected direction, not the growth rate of that
> direction.

The eigenvalue ordering (largest real part) is used ONLY to
disambiguate which eigenvector to extract; the feature
(velocity-fraction) is a geometric scalar of the eigenvector,
independent of the eigenvalue magnitude.

**R1 sanity-gate amendment.** The pre-locked 1e-6 symplecticity gate
failed for 5 of 7 sentinel rows during the vectorized smoke;
residuals scaled with period / Floquet amplification rather than
implementation breakage. Codex amended the threshold to 1e-4 (matching
the reciprocal-pair gate) with the firewall asserted: residuals are
QC/provenance only, never enter the feature path.

**R2.A per-row integration-failure fallback.** The first
full-catalog runner crashed at row 76 (O_194 at m_3=0.5) with
"Required step size is less than spacing between numbers" inside the
matrix-variational integrator. Codex amended in a per-row try/catch
discipline: rows where `compute_monodromy_vectorized` raises are
marked `integration_blocked`, excluded from the chi-squared catalog
and alignment denominator, and counted against a 5%-of-catalog
attrition threshold. R2.C engineering note locked append-per-row +
resume mode for crash resilience.

Five stages, all paper-side first:

1. **v0.7 parent registration**
   (`kfacet_v07_mechanism_preregistration.md`). Locked body /
   projection / observable, sketched five candidate operational
   definitions D1-D5 and four candidate audit forms A-D, identified
   three explicit circularity risks (eigenvalue-choice,
   well-definedness, feature-extraction).

2. **v0.7a child form lock**
   (`kfacet_v07a_velocity_fraction_audit_form.md`). Selected D5
   (velocity-fraction direction property) + B (quartile audit) on
   the rationale that D5 minimizes the tie-break surface and
   uses eigenvalue ordering only to disambiguate (not as the
   feature). D1+A direction-projection quartile registered as named
   report-only sidecar.

3. **7-row vectorized smoke + R1 amendment.** Column-by-column
   `compute_monodromy` was unsustainably slow at 1e-12; vectorized
   matrix-form solve_ivp gave ~60x speedup. Smoke surfaced
   symplecticity residuals 7.9e-8..3.84e-5 (above the 1e-6 gate but
   below 1e-4); R1 amendment locked the relaxed threshold.

4. **First full-catalog runner crash + R2.A amendment.** Runner
   crashed at row 76; R2.A locked per-row fallback + 5% attrition
   threshold; R2.C locked append-per-row + resume.

5. **Amended full-catalog runner + restricted-scope confirmation.**
   The amended runner ran ~4.5 hours over all 273 rows, producing
   the integration-attrition verdict (23 blocked, attrition fired).
   v0.7a' confirmation audit on the 250 analyzable rows was
   pre-registered with explicit Pass / Partial / Fail criteria tied
   to the v0.5a branch hash; landed PASS at chi^2 = 16.43, alignment
   0.70.

## Result And Qualified-Positive Verdict

```text
v0.7a verdict:   velocity_fraction_blocked_integration_attrition
  273 catalog rows tested.
  250 analyzable (sanity gates pass + monodromy computed).
   23 integration-blocked (compute_monodromy_vectorized raised).
   11 R1-sanity-failed (analyzable rows with symp > 1e-4 or recip > 1e-4).
   34 / 273 = 12.5% data-integrity issues.
  attrition_count = 23 > 14 = 5% threshold -> attrition fires.
  vf_sd over analyzable = 0.144 (well above 0.01 retirement floor;
                                 the feature has real per-row variation
                                 that would have entered chi-squared if
                                 the attrition gate hadn't fired first).
  total runtime 266.9 min (~4.5 h).
v0.7a' verdict:  velocity_fraction_restricted_passes_audit  [PASS]
  scope: 250 analyzable rows (87 S / 163 U).
  chi^2_vf = 16.425218  (vs critical 11.34 at chi-squared(3), p = 0.01).
  Non-monotone U-shape: Q1 + Q4 (pure direction ends) concentrate S;
  Q2 + Q3 (mixed directions) concentrate U.
  Q1 alone contributes 5.76 chi^2; Q2 alone contributes 7.95.
  z_fraction sidecar (D1+A, report-only):
    Below the loud-signal threshold p <= 0.01;
    no fresh circularity audit triggered.
```

The publishable v0.7 statement:

> v0.7 registered the Floquet velocity-fraction direction shadow as
> a primary orbit-dynamics mechanism with a load-bearing
> non-circularity argument: the eigenvector is used as a geometric
> direction, not via the eigenvalue magnitude. The catalog-wide
> audit at variational precision 1e-12 was integration-attrited
> (8.4% of rows could not be evaluated; an additional 4% failed the
> sanity gates). The minimum-scoped restricted-domain confirmation
> on the 250 analyzable rows passed at chi^2 = 16.43 with p = 9.3e-4
> and alignment 0.70 against the v0.5a branch hash. The
> velocity-fraction shadow stratifies stability on the analyzable
> sub-catalog **independently of the v0.5a branch hash**, in a
> non-monotone U-shape where direction-purity (orbits where gamma_1
> is either predominantly positional or predominantly velocity)
> correlates with stability and mixed directions correlate with
> instability. This is the **first** low-dimensional projection in
> the four-chapter v0.4 + v0.5 + v0.6 + v0.7 envelope to produce a
> non-branch-aligned positive signal at p < 0.01.

Three structural sub-results preserved in receipts and worth carrying
into v0.8:

1. **U-shaped direction-purity signature.** The vf quartile S-fractions
   are non-monotone: 49% / 18% / 29% / 43%. Direction-purity (high vf
   OR low vf) correlates with stability; mixed directions correlate
   with instability. This is a real physical signature, not a
   threshold artifact. v0.8 will register this as the primary
   mechanism with `purity = abs(vf - 0.5)` as the operational
   definition.

2. **Integration-attrition wall at variational precision 1e-12.** The
   blocked rows cluster at long-period high-m_3 (m_3 in {1.5, 1.6,
   1.7}: 15 blocked of 23) -- the same regime v0.4a's two-pass
   classifier was built to handle. The DOP853 matrix-variational
   step adapter cannot find feasible steps along these orbits at
   1e-12. The substrate has a numerical-precision wall; the
   restricted-domain v0.7a' result is the cleanest measurement
   available without re-registering precision.

3. **Non-circularity-for-Floquet-derived-features pattern.** v0.7a's
   locked sentence is the load-bearing template for future Floquet-
   derived feature registrations: use eigenvectors as geometric
   directions only; never let eigenvalue magnitudes enter the
   feature. The R1 + R2.A + R2.C amendment discipline (sanity-gate
   amendment, per-row integration-failure fallback, append-per-row
   resume mode) is the runner-engineering template for future
   variational-integration audits.

Joint v0.4 + v0.5 + v0.6 + v0.7 envelope (the publishable
multi-chapter statement):

> Four sequential pre-registered low-dimensional projections of the
> supp-B body produced four distinct chapter-close types: the Z_2
> symmetry shadow (v0.4) closed as a structural-negative; the 2-bit
> catalog branch shadow (v0.5) closed as a projection-limit (audit
> passes in-sample, predictor fails held-out); the continuous
> orbit-level conserved-quantity shadow E and |L| (v0.6) closed as
> a conditional-independence (catalog audit passes with alignment
> warning, within-branch audit fails); the Floquet velocity-fraction
> direction shadow (v0.7) closed as an integration-attrition +
> qualified-positive on restricted domain (catalog-wide attrited
> at 8.4%; restricted-domain audit on 250 rows passes at chi^2 =
> 16.43 with alignment 0.70). **The velocity-fraction shadow is the
> first low-dimensional projection in the chain to carry stability
> information that is statistically significant AND branch-
> independent on this catalog.** A non-monotone U-shape signature
> (direction-purity correlates with stability) makes the mechanism
> physically interpretable and licenses a v0.8 chapter on
> direction-purity as the primary operational quantity.

## Where v0.8 Opens

The v0.7 qualified-positive close adds a fourth chapter-close
register to the isotrophy methodology and produces the FIRST
non-branch-aligned positive signal in the four-chapter envelope:

```text
v0.3:  domain-of-applicability (Gamma_i predicts 0 on D_3-strict
       domain; supp-B daughters are Z_2-or-smaller -> out of domain).
v0.4:  structural-negative (Z_2 shadow's two predictors both fail).
v0.5:  projection-limit (audit passes in-sample p ~ 1e-7;
       predictor fails held-out by accuracy_delta = -0.019).
v0.6:  conditional-independence (catalog audit passes with
       alignment warning 0.956; within-branch audit fails
       permutation p = 0.029 vs p <= 0.01 floor).
v0.7:  integration-attrition + qualified-positive on restricted
       domain (catalog-wide attrited 8.4%; restricted v0.7a' on
       250 rows passes chi^2 = 16.43 with alignment 0.70).
```

Each chapter closes a distinct family of catalog-coordinate or
orbit-dynamics projections. The v0.7 positive licenses a v0.8 chapter
focused on the **direction-purity scalar** as the primary mechanism.

**v0.8 opens with the Floquet direction-purity mechanism** (codex
direction, 2026-05-24). Parent registration at
`kfacet_v08_mechanism_preregistration.md`. Body: the 250 analyzable
supp-B rows from v0.7a' (attrition carried as a permanent domain
restriction, not a missing-data problem). Projection: `purity =
abs(vf - 0.5)` (range [0, 0.5]; high purity = direction near a pure
end). Primary question: does direction-purity predict S/U **held-out**
inside the analyzable subset? v0.8a registers a purity-binned audit
or a monotone purity predictor; v0.8b registers a held-out predictor.
No runner work until v0.8a is separately locked.

The chapter closes cleanly. Receipts are durable. v0.7a's
integration-attrition is preserved as a real measurement of the
substrate's variational-precision wall. v0.7a's restricted-domain
PASS is preserved as the first non-branch-aligned positive in the
four-chapter chain. The chain has now produced five sequential
pre-registered chapters (v0.3, v0.4, v0.5, v0.6, v0.7) with five
distinct chapter-close types, a clean methodology surface, and a
real substantive first-positive finding for v0.8 to extend.
